It's been about seven long years since I saw my baby walkin' away Can't even think of those days since I saw her walkin' away My heart is sad Feels like it's been ripped in two No there's not a lot I can do Going down on the highway Goin' to tak this rope and try it across my throat It's been about seven long years since I saw my baby walkin' away Can't even think of those days since I saw her walkin' away Where did you come from Where did you go Don't be singing no cotton eyed joe, gotta move on Gotta drink my fill and get myself back home I know that she ain't coming back so I'll end my life down past the ol' wide railroad track It's been about seven long years since I saw my baby walkin' away Can't even think of those days since I saw her walkin' away I give my soul to the lord above Cuz I ain't worth nothing to this world Without the one I love

My friend he had a boat Yeah he would take us driving Down the ol’ Rideau It was a Friday on the water And even though those times Are far away now I remember like it was yesterday Cuz even though were gone And all grown up now I’ll never forget those days When we were driving down the road Towards Davy’s ol’ trailer Where the parties been raising hell Where we were strumming our ol guitars Playing em a little bit to hard And Isaac would hit the high notes Little bit of water Little bit of smoke Back when we were young Oh Olivia she's gone out east She's taken up a job there We would blast old tunes that our parents use to play And argue which was better And then there's Jimmy Yeah Jimmies still at Timmies But who am I to judge Cuz even though were gone And all grown up now I’ll never forget those days When we were driving down the road Towards Davy’s ol’ trailer Where the parties been raising hell Where we were strumming our ol guitars Playing em a little bit to hard And Isaac would hit the high notes Ya you grow old, find love and get on with your life And there's nothing that can change that I won’t say that I don’t miss those times when we’d drink until the sunrise And wake up all the neighbors with our stupid drunken behaviour And girl I was falling for you Little bit of water Little bit of smoke Back when we were young

Let me go away Oh can I say I’m leaving Yeah I’m on my own If I say that i’ll stay Would you take me someday To a place I can call my home Well many times before I’ve talked up my game Made a fool of myself around you I can’t even realize The time I have spent Making troubles pass me through So I count up all my problems That I ain’t gonna solve Yeah I ain't got much time left in me There’s a town across the water Where my old man was raised Yeah I think I’ll go and see Yeah I know what you’re thinking You got my tongue wrapped in circles I know you got a story in your eyes I miss the way you play guitar When I piss you off I know those songs are all about me But don’t go tryin’ to fix me Saying’ I gotta cry a little more I know I can be a little bit intense It’s water under bridges until it all over flows Well I’ll get myself a boat

Back at home There is a place Just off the 416 With a sign at the door And a fence all around And a piano that’s missing some keys Now johnnys in the back He’s making some scratch Turn up that kenny loggins We got Jason at the bar Ge’s going 50 miles an hour He makes the best damn caesar you’d ever seen So I call my own mama And I tell her get her engine started It’s 45 minutes out from Lombardy And I know when I get in all my friends will be waiting Saying play that song that grandma use to sing When I’m up on my third round And all the liquors on the ground Even the lawyers are now up dancing With a hell of a crowd of people here They always help me load my gear I can’t even begin to tell you why I guess there’s something about this town That city folks should learn about That makes it so damn hard to say goodbye You can rib and rab or wine and holler it ain't going to turn a penny into a dollar It’s about the pals/friends you make oh all the while
